Meatballs with a surprising holiday kick of cranberry sauce.
2 lbs ground chuck
2/3 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup whole milk
1 large egg
1/3 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 can (12 oz) cranberry sauce
1 bottle (12 oz) chili sauce
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp garlic powder
3 T olive oil
Drizzle olive oil in medium pan over medium heat.
Combine ground chuck, onion, milk, egg, bread crumbs, salt and pepper in a large bowl and hand-mix thoroughly.
Roll into 2-inch balls.
Brown meatballs in olive oil until internal temperature reaches 160° F on a meat thermometer.
Combine browned meatballs and remainder of ingredients in a slow cooker on low heat and stir until ingredients are thoroughly blended.
Let meatballs sit in mixture for at least 90 minutes.
Serve with toothpicks from slow cooker set on low heat or transfer to serving dish or bowl.
