All American Burger

A quintessential burger topped with all the classic toppings.

Ingredients

1-1/4 lbs ground beef chuck

1-1/2 tsp kosher salt

3/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Oil for brushing buns

4 buns, split

4 leaves Boston or iceberg lettuce

4 tomato slices

4 red onion slices

Ketchup, for serving

Mustard, for serving

Pickles, for serving

Directions

Preheat grill to medium-high.

In a large bowl, break up beef and season with salt and pepper.

Form into four 4-1/2 inch patties, making an indentation in the center of each patty.

Cook burgers on the grill, turning only once. Let burgers cook about 4-6 minutes each.

Remove burgers from heat and allow them to rest 1-2 minutes.

Measure patties with a meat thermometer to ensure an internal of 160° F is reached before enjoying.

Brush cut side of buns lightly with oil and grill cut-side down until light golden brown.

Put a burger on the bottom of each bun and top with lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard, pickles and bun top.
