Easy Beef & Bacon Baked Beans

Beef, bacon and baked beans combine for a savory take on the old barbecue favorite.

Ingredients

2 lbs ground chuck
1 lb bacon
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
4 cans (16 oz ea) plain baked beans
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup molasses

Directions

Brown ground beef in a medium pan until it reaches an internal temperature of 160° F on a meat thermometer. Drain fat and set meat aside.

In the same pan, fry bacon until very crispy. Remove bacon from pan, leaving grease.

Add chopped onion to hot bacon grease for approximately 30 seconds (long enough to begin softening onion).

Crumble bacon.

Combine beef, bacon and onion in slow cooker with baked beans, ketchup and molasses.

Set to medium heat, stir thoroughly, and allow to warm until beans are thoroughly heated (about 1 hour), stirring every few minutes.

Reduce heat and allow to stand on a buffet, or transfer ingredients to a serving dish and serve immediately.
