Sweetloaf Meatloaf

A touch of brown sugar sweetness makes this dish one that even meatloaf-loathers will crave.


2 lbs ground sirloin
4 slices day-old bread
1 pkg onion soup mix
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
3 T ketchup
1 T yellow mustard
4 T brown sugar
3 T barbecue sauce


Preheat oven to 350° F.

Toast bread and put in resealable bag.

Use a rolling pin to crush the toast into crumbs.

Combine beef, soup mix, egg, milk and bread crumbs in a large bowl.

Grease a loaf pan and put meat mixture in pan.

Combine rest of ingredients in small bowl and mix thoroughly.

Glaze top of loaf with mixture.

Bake meatloaf for 45 minutes or until ground beef reaches an internal temperature of 160° F on a meat thermometer.

Remove from oven and allow to rest, in baking pan, for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
